The Adam and Elizabeth Ivey/Ivie/Ivy Family

Adam was born probably between 1640 and 1650 and died between 1704 and 1718. Adam and Elizabeth lived in Weyanoke Parish in what is now Prince George County, Va. Weyanoke Plantation became Weyanoke Parish. Weyanoke Parish was dissolved in 1720, and its territory north of the James River was added to Westover Parish.

Merchant's Hope, where Elizabeth's will was probated, is on the north side of the Old River Road and 1 ½ miles south of the James River. It is approximately 6 miles from Hopewell, VA.  From here, the various descendents spread southward to Surry, Sussex, Southampton and other southern Virginia counties and then on to North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee which were the pathways to the south and west.
